Today, Intel officially announced that it will establish a strategic partnership with MediaTek to provide foundry services for MediaTek through its Foundry Services Division (IFS).

Intel said in the announcement that MediaTek will use Intel's technology to produce chips for a range of smart devices that will be used in Amazon's Echo speakers, as well as products from fitness equipment maker Peloton Interactive.

The cooperation between MediaTek and Intel will undoubtedly put more pressure on TSMC and Samsung, further intensifying the competition between the two.

In fact, as early as last year, Intel established the foundry service division. According to its official introduction, this foundry service will help customers realize all production processes including front-end design, back-end design, and semiconductor production and packaging. And can help customers with product classification and testing services.

To this end, Intel invested 20 billion US dollars in two new fabs in Arizona, to provide support for advanced semiconductor packaging technology.
